The 718 Cayman

2018 Porsche 718 Cayman

The 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman is a performance coupe that is regularly touted as one of the best-balanced sports cars in production. For 2018 it comes with a new gloss-black rear spoiler and contrasting colored stitching and seatbelts.

The 718 Cayman has a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat four-cylinder engine producing 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, while the 718 Cayman S features a 2.5-liter version with Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) technology similar to the Porsche 911 Turbo, boosting power to 350 hp and 309 lb-ft of torque. Both engines produce 25 more horses than previous Caymans and up to 67 lb-ft more torque.

The 718 Cayman equipped with the optional seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) manual automatic transmission and Sport Chrono Package accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in only 4.5 seconds. The 718 Cayman S does the same sprint in only 4.0 seconds. The 718 Cayman comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission.

The 718 Cayman interior features a redesigned upper dashboard, a three-spoke leather-wrapped sport steering wheel with hand contours, a center-mounted tachometer and a high-resolution seven-inch touchscreen powering the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system. The system integrates Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay™, Siri® voice control and an available navigation system powered by Google® Earth.

Whether at the track or on the street, the 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman never fails to be a gratifying drive. And given that it starts at almost half the price of a 911, it should be on the shopping list of anyone seeking a pure, driver-focused sports car.
